EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin has a simple message for anyone who claims to care about lowering costs: build more. “Now is the time for MORE domestic energy production, not less,” Zeldin posted Wednesday. “MORE pipelines. MORE power plants. MORE refineries. MORE reliable, durable baseload power.”
In the video he shared, Zeldin called it the no-brainer, common sense answer. “Instead of closing down natural gas plants and coal plants, we should be keeping them open,” he said. “We should be able to build more. We should be building more refineries. We should be installing more pipelines across this country.”
“The average American understands that we should be unleashing energy dominance in this country,” Zeldin said. He said it is better for Americans, for national security and for the economy, and argued it is better for the environment too, because America produces its energy more cleanly than so many other countries around the world.
The world is noticing. Zeldin said countries overseas are looking to diversify their supply chains, “and they’re looking to the U.S.,” with big wins ahead in the mid and long term. He also called out the hypocrisy of politicians who fight pipelines and power plants while repeating consultant talking points about lowering costs.
It is the America First energy agenda in action. Under President Trump, the administration has already terminated Biden’s methane rules, a move the President said saves $45 billion and frees up 210 million barrels of oil. Zeldin’s bottom line: “If you want to just boil it down to an examination of affordability, it’s obvious that we should be accessing more, not less.”
