The results are in, and they are staggering. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced Wednesday that Operation Highway Shield put nearly 400 drivers and trucks out of service during a 48-hour operation in Arkansas. Nearly 200 of those truckers could not read the road signs.
Think about that. Drivers behind the wheel of 80,000-pound rigs, sharing the highway with American families, who could not read a sign telling them to slow down, merge or stop. Under the Trump Administration, that ends. “Gone are the days of dangerous, and many times illegal and foreign drivers putting American lives at risk on our roads,” Secretary Duffy said.
This was a full team effort. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration worked alongside the Department of Homeland Security, ICE and the DEA, with the Arkansas Highway Police on the ground. The video Secretary Duffy shared, shot by Arkansas Highway Police, shows the checkpoints in action as rig after rig is pulled aside.
Operation Highway Shield follows Operation Guardian, where Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin’s team took illegal aliens and unqualified commercial drivers off the road. The message is the same everywhere: if you cannot read the signs or have no right to be here, you do not get to drive a big rig on American highways.
Secretary Duffy summed it up in five words: “we are restoring LAW AND ORDER.” Under President Trump, the roads are getting safer one checkpoint at a time, and the truckers who play by the rules finally have an administration that has their back.
