HUD Secretary Scott Turner is done pretending Housing First works. “Housing First is a failure,” Turner posted as he walked viewers through an empty Los Angeles property that was supposed to house the homeless — and never did.

The numbers are an insult to every working taxpayer. Real estate developer Steven Taylor bought a Cheviot Hills property for $11 million, then sold it to the City of Los Angeles for $27 million in taxpayer money labeled as “homeless housing.”

“Take a look. It’s still empty. Still construction. No homeless people here,” Turner’s video shows. Zero homeless people housed. Millions of dollars moved. A neighborhood left with a vacant project and a bigger bill.

That is the Housing First model in action: shovel money at developers, call it compassion, and leave the people who need help still on the street. Under President Trump, HUD is calling it what it is.

“This is the scam. We are ending it,” Secretary Turner said. America First housing policy means results for the homeless and accountability for the bureaucrats and developers who treated taxpayer dollars like a free ATM.
