Energy Secretary Chris Wright stood in front of a nuclear plant on Tuesday and told its story. “The plant behind me, a little over five years ago, was days away from being closed,” he said.
“Democrat energy policies, subsidies for intermittent power, had made it very hard to make the economics work even for existing nuclear power plants,” Wright said.
“President Trump has come in with, we’re going to add energy to America, not just energy production but energy demand,” he said. “Those two things working together has made America revive nuclear power.”
“We’re restarting three power plants, upgrading power plants all across the country, and soon you’ll be hearing announcements about new reactors being constructed,” Wright said.
“So yes, the nuclear renaissance is real. It’s happening.” Democrats tried to shut it down. President Trump is powering it back up.
