Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins says his marching orders came straight from the top. “Donald Trump loves our veterans. I mean, his only comment to me was, he said, you know, take care of my veterans,” Collins said. “And that’s what we’ve done over the last 20 months of this administration under his leadership.”

“We have cut the wait times to get these benefits applied. We’ve accomplished more in a year than had ever been accomplished before,” Collins said. “This means that our veterans are getting answers that they need,” with accuracy “still staying very high while we’re processing even more.”

Care is also getting closer to home. “We’ve opened 46, getting ready to open 47 new facilities since January of 2025 so that our veterans have closer access to health care, where they live, where they’re at,” Collins said. “We put in billions of dollars into upgrading our facilities and making sure that veterans have the most up-to-date equipment.”

“These are the kind of things that say to our veterans, we value what you did. We value your service,” Collins said. “We came from an organization that was so bureaucratic, so focused on ourselves that we forgot the one key ingredient, and that was the only reason we’re here: veterans. We’ve changed that.”

“Veterans are first at the VA,” Collins said. “Trump administration, promises made, promises kept.” With Veterans Day one week away, the men and women who served have a President who keeps his word.
