On Election Day, President Donald J. Trump signed a proclamation naming the week of November 1 through November 7, 2026 Anti-Communism Week, and he left no doubt where he stands. “Under my leadership, America will never fall victim to these evil ideologies, and the United States will never become a communist country,” the President declared.
“For more than a century, human freedom has been threatened by communist and socialist ideologies that eliminate individual opportunity, subjugate individuals to the state, and extinguish the God-given rights upon which free nations are built,” the proclamation says. The result, it says, has been “suffering, poverty, exploitation, violence, and misery for millions.”
The President warned that the danger is not only overseas. “Today, however, our American experiment faces renewed threats as socialist, communist, and radical leftist ideologies find increased expression in our Nation,” he wrote. “We must remain vigilant in defending the principles that sustain our Republic and ensure the lessons of history are never forgotten nor repeated.”
“As President, I will always protect the founding principles for which so many fought and died,” President Trump wrote. He pledged to “defend our Constitution, which protects our freedoms; uphold the dignity of every individual; strengthen the free market, which has made us the most prosperous country ever to exist; and ensure that the promise of America remains alive and well for generations to come.”
The White House marked the week with a short video and a simple message: “Communism is the exact opposite of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness — the very principles America was founded on.” The President called on every American “to stand firm in their defense against any threat to the American way of life and to protect our burning flame of liberty from the darkness of communism.”
