Rep. Chuck Fleischmann says East Tennessee is open for business. In his weekly “Fleischmann Friday” video on Oct. 23, the Third District congressman recapped a week that ran from Oak Ridge’s nuclear boom to a courthouse groundbreaking in Chattanooga.
Fleischmann said he started the week with the Department of Energy and visited the Oak Ridge site where the French company Orano plans to enrich uranium in the United States. “Companies are coming into Oak Ridge right and left,” he said.
He also met with union workers from the building trades in Oak Ridge, who he said put out a statement thanking him for years of fighting for their jobs. “I love our hard workers,” Fleischmann said. “We need to cherish them every day.”
Back home in Chattanooga, Fleischmann joined the groundbreaking for the new federal courthouse, which he said he and Sen. Bill Hagerty worked on through their Appropriations Committees. “Chattanooga deserves a new federal courthouse and it’s going to get it,” he said.
He closed the week in Sweetwater for the opening of a new industrial park. “The I-75 corridor is booming,” Fleischmann said. “Businesses are coming to Tennessee, workers are coming to Tennessee.”
It is the America First formula at work in Tennessee: American energy, American workers and American jobs.
