America’s ambassador to the United Nations would not be shouted down. As Mike Waltz laid out how the Castro regime “has profited at the expense of the Cuban people with luxury cars, expensive watches and a private island resort,” he said, “regime thugs rushed the stage to interrupt my speech.” Waltz held his ground: “He’s not going to intimidate me in the United States of America.”
Video from the floor of the General Assembly shows the confrontation at the podium. “Mr. President, this individual needs to back away from this podium,” Waltz said.
“They can intimidate their own people in Cuba,” Waltz wrote afterward, “but think again about trying that nonsense in the United States of America.”
Waltz shared the video from the floor on his official account, @USAmbUN, on Tuesday.
