“The accountability is already starting to come,” Vice President JD Vance said at his Fox News town hall Thursday. “We’ve already thrown multiple people in prison because of fraud in the Trump administration. We’ve prosecuted dozens of people that weren’t even being looked at.”

He listed the schemes being shut down: “People were running immigration fraud schemes, people who were running visa fraud schemes, people who were stealing from the welfare system, from Medicaid, from Medicare, from Social Security, from everything.” The level of fraud, he said, “is completely out of control.”

Vance said the administration makes sure every case is a good one, “fully developed,” with no thumb on the scale. “One of the reasons why we saw so many of those Biden era prosecutions fall apart is because they were obviously politically motivated,” he said. “We’re going out there and prosecuting them because they are fraudsters and they deserve to go to prison. And we’re able to win a lot of these cases, and we’re going to win a lot more.”

He tied the crackdown straight to family budgets. “If you’re stealing hundreds of billions of dollars, and that’s what we’ve already uncovered in the anti-fraud effort,” Vance said, and “buying a Mercedes Benz as a fraudster, then you’re actually contributing to the affordability crisis.”

“One of the biggest dividends that we’re going to see from the anti-fraud effort is that we’re going to give the American people more of their money back, less going to fraudsters,” the Vice President said, “and that’s how we make life more affordable.”
