On the last afternoon before Election Day, President Trump stood at the Lincoln Memorial and drew the line between his record and everything that came before it. “While past administrations tore down statues, allowed thugs and murderers to run wild, and let our capital fall into shameful disrepair,” the President said, “we’re treating our capital city with the love and the honor that it deserves. We respect it.”
“Today I’m thrilled to announce the official opening of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool,” Trump said. He thanked the team at Interior and said the pool “is now better and more beautiful than it’s ever been before. And we’re very proud of it.”
It took work. “We went through a lot with vandalism,” the President said. “The vandalism was unprecedented. People don’t like talking about it.” Built in 1922, the pool is the largest reflecting pool in the world, he said, “a fixture of our National Mall and it’s a crown jewel of the capital city.”
The results go well beyond the Mall. In 2025, murder and nonnegligent manslaughter fell 18.1%, tying the lowest rate on record, and violent crime fell 9.7%, the biggest drop since the FBI began keeping national records. The White House put it plainly: President Trump “backed the police, driven down crime, & restored beauty to our cities.”
Promises made, promises kept. Safe streets, restored monuments and respect for the capital are all on the ballot Tuesday, Nov. 3. Make your plan and vote.
