American farmers are getting their fertilizer supply back. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins says the Trump Administration’s historic $1.3 billion investment in domestic fertilizer production is designed to start paying off fast. “We have selected projects that will immediately begin producing fertilizer for America,” she said.
“Over the last couple of decades we’ve offshored fertilizer, much like we’ve offshored other things,” Rollins said. “So the President’s America First agenda is so important, and so bringing back that 50% of fertilizer we use in America that we’re now shipping in from other countries is a priority for this administration.”
The payoff for farm families is simple. “It will bring cost down and increase capacity,” Rollins said. She called it “a five-year, ten-year project,” but said “we should begin to see that production move into full effect by the end of next year.”
Rollins said her team worked on the plan “with the vice president’s team and across the administration,” and that it covers 22 projects in 16 states. Vice President JD Vance announced the investment in Nebraska this week.
Made in America, grown in America — and now fed by American fertilizer.
