The NFL is about to play its first-ever regular-season game in France, and President Trump says the league should be worried. Asked about it on the South Lawn on Friday, the President did not sugarcoat it. “You worry about it,” he said. “It’s looking like tomorrow is going to be a bad day in France, so you worry about it.”
“I would have said the NFL could have probably postponed that match,” Trump said. The Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints are set to kick off at Stade de France, just outside Paris, on Sunday, Oct. 25, at 9:30 a.m. Eastern.
Then the President explained why. “France is really in trouble,” he said. “That’s what happens when you go left. That’s what happens when you allow unlimited numbers of people into your country from very unfriendly countries. That’s what you’re going to have.”
It is the same warning the White House has been sounding all week as France burns: open borders and left-wing government lead to chaos. The President has made the contrast a centerpiece of the midterm fight, telling voters America is not going to let that happen here.
Under President Trump, America went the other way — the border secured and the country safe. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
