President Trump went to Fort Myers on Friday with a simple message for Florida ten days out from the midterms: remember what life was like before. “The last time the radical Democrats had power, they gave us the worst inflation in American history, the highest energy prices in American history,” the President said.
“You know, energy was much higher under Sleepy Joe and under Barack Hussein Obama,” Trump said. He explained that he knew prices would tick up for a moment when he moved on Iran — “small price to pay” — because “we took out the nuclear power from Iran.” And now, he told the crowd, “yours is going to go down.”
Then came the rest of the record. “They gave us the worst trade deficit in American history,” the President said. “They allowed 25 million people to pour across our borders from all over the world.”
Trump’s warning was blunt. “And if they win the midterms, they will do it again. They’re going to do it all again,” he said. “And we never forget. We can never forget. You go back two years ago, we were living in a dark age.”
His closing line brought the Fort Myers crowd to its feet: “The proud people of Florida will never let that happen.” Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
