President Trump’s energy team is putting money where the power lines are. Energy Secretary Chris Wright said Thursday that the administration is leaning in on every state to produce more energy and bring down costs.

The administration’s goal, Wright said in Texas, is to lean in on all 50 states “to increase energy production and lower costs.” “It’s across all 50 states,” he said. “It’s in U.S. territories. It’s in a number of tribal lands. These funds are allocated with a focus on making the electrical grid more resilient.”

The Department of Energy announced about $967 million this week through its Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grant program to modernize critical infrastructure, prevent power disruptions and meet growing electricity demand. “Lowering costs and unleashing prosperity are top priorities for President Trump,” Wright said in the announcement.

Texas receives about $50.3 million. “It’ll be matched with well over $50 million of co-investment from CenterPoint and other electric producing utilities across Texas,” Wright said. Tennessee’s share is about $13.9 million, according to DOE’s allocation table.

“This is about making energy more affordable, more secure for Texans,” the Secretary said. “This is about making energy more affordable for Americans all across the country.” It is common sense, and it is American energy dominance in action.
