President Trump brought breaking news to the heartland Thursday night. On stage in Sioux City, Iowa, the President announced that his administration is using the Defense Production Act to put $150 million behind American refining.

“Tonight, in more breaking news, my administration is using Defense Production Act to release $150 million to increase American refining capacity to produce more diesel and more gasoline at record levels,” President Trump told the packed Iowa crowd.

The move goes straight at the bottleneck between American oil in the ground and fuel at the pump. “The fact is, we have more oil than Russia and Saudi Arabia combined,” the President said. “If you go back eight or nine years, you see that wasn’t, it was a different world. But we have so much now.”

What America needs now, the President said, is the capacity to turn that oil into fuel. “The thing we need is, and we’re building them rapidly, is refineries,” he said. “We have so much oil, you wouldn’t believe.”

For Iowa farmers running combines and truckers hauling the harvest, more diesel and more gasoline made in America means a stronger, more secure supply. President Trump is using every tool he has to keep American energy dominant and keep American fuel flowing.
