The White House put the choice in front of every American on Wednesday. “France before and after is a warning,” it posted alongside a video of the destruction. “The chaos, looting, and destruction we’re watching is exactly the future radical Democrats are pushing for America. Is this the future you want?”
President Trump has been sounding that alarm for years. Speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews, he was blunt about the cause. “It’s an immigration problem,” he said. “I mean it’s not a school problem, it’s an immigration problem. It’s a very sad thing to watch.”
The President said he has told French President Emmanuel Macron, “who I like a lot,” exactly where this road leads. “I said you could end up losing your country if you don’t do something,” Trump said. “You have people that hate France, they hate the buildings, hate the art, hate the people, and they’re in there. … They’d better do something. I’ve been saying it for ten years.”
Trump also praised America’s ambassador to France, Charles Kushner, who he said has “painstakingly brought it back to life,” restoring the historic U.S. residence in Paris. “He’s somebody like me, I guess, he likes to fix things up,” the President said.
The lesson for America is clear. Secure borders protect a nation’s people and its heritage, and President Trump is making sure America never becomes the next warning.
