No one in American politics draws a crowd like President Trump, and on Friday he said so plainly. Asked on the South Lawn whether other Republicans should be more forceful, the President answered: “Well, I’m the only one that can get 25,000 people to show up.”

“That’s, you know, whether it’s Democrat or Republican, that’s a proven fact,” Trump said. “That’s been proven for 10 years. I’m the only one that can get the crowds.”

He pointed to the trip he was about to make. “Like in Fort Myers, they have thousands and thousands of people that were there yesterday. They were lined up yesterday,” the President said. “So that seems to be a trait or an ability.”

And he made clear how he chooses to spend it. “I want to use it for good purpose,” Trump said. “And if I don’t think somebody’s really worthy or good job, I don’t go.” With the midterms ten days away, an endorsement and a visit from the President remain the most powerful forces in the race.
