President Trump had a short answer for Karl Rove on Friday. A reporter on the South Lawn noted Rove’s new article in the Wall Street Journal warning of a backlash and asked whether rallies are the best strategy so close to the midterms. “Look, you have Karl Rove, he’s a loser,” the President said. “He’s been a loser all his life. Karl Rove doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”

Then he pointed to the scoreboard. “Every single place I’ve gone to,” he said, “look at Ohio, how much better he’s doing. Look at everyone, look at Iowa last night with Ashley.”

“Every place I’m going to, every place is full, loaded with people, lines outside trying to get in,” President Trump said. “I’m going to Fort Myers right now. They say there’s a line of people that’s five miles long.”

“Every place I’ve gone to, I’ve helped. And every place wants me,” he said. “The one problem is I’m one person. Let me tell you, this is a lot of work.”

Asked whether other Republicans should be more forceful, the President said no one else draws a crowd like he does. “I’m the only one that can get 25,000 people to show up,” he said. “Whether it’s Democrat or Republican, that’s a proven fact. That’s been proven for 10 years.” He said the Fort Myers crowd was already lined up a day early.

“I want to use it for good purpose,” President Trump said. “And if I don’t think somebody’s really worthy or good job, I don’t go.” Then he boarded Marine One for Florida.
