President Trump brought the America First message back to Michigan on Sunday, and one of the biggest cheers in Port Huron came for a base the Democrats were ready to let die.

“We made the largest ever investment in the U.S. Armed Forces, over $1 trillion,” the President told the crowd. “And right here in Michigan, I got 21 new F-15EX Eagle IIs for Selfridge Air National Guard Base.”

Selfridge, in Macomb County, has been a pillar of Michigan’s military community for generations. Trump reminded voters how close it came to losing its flying mission. “The Democrats were closing Selfridge down,” he said, “but I saved thousands of jobs and really the prestige.”

“Only I could have done that,” the President said.

It was a reminder of what America First means on the ground: a stronger military, real jobs at home, and a President who keeps his word to the states that sent him back to the White House. Michigan heard it loud and clear.
