President Trump said Friday that America’s neighbors are coming to the table, and on his terms. “We’re very close to a deal with Mexico,” he told reporters on the South Lawn.
“It’ll be a very good deal for hopefully them, but it’s going to be a good deal for us or we won’t make it,” the President said.
“The same thing with Canada,” he said. “Canada’s worked very hard to make a deal with us.”
President Trump made clear who holds the leverage. “And I hate to say this, but we have all the cards in both of them,” he said. “We have all the cards. Just like I told Zelensky. We have all the cards.”
It is the America First approach in a sentence: no deal unless it puts American workers and American industry first.
