President Trump spoke straight to West Texas farm country in Lubbock on Tuesday night. “We’re also standing up for our great farmers and ranchers who I love here in Lubbock,” he said, “which is, by the way, the cotton capital of the world.”

“To protect family farms, we eliminated the unfair estate tax, or death tax,” the President said. “We gave our farmers $12 billion of relief.”

The death tax forced too many families to sell land their parents and grandparents worked for generations just to pay Washington. The White House rapid response team noted the Working Families Tax Cut is set to save more than 221,000 family farms in Texas alone.

Ranchers got good news too. On Tuesday, the Interior Secretary signed a rangeland order to help ranchers facing shrinking herds.

For the families who grow America’s cotton and raise its cattle, the message from Lubbock was simple: this President has their backs.
