One of the best moments of President Trump’s Rock Hill rally on Thursday was not in the speech. On his way in, the President saw a group of young men being interviewed, and they turned out to be the golf team of Winthrop University, right there in Rock Hill.

“Where is that guy? Get up here,” Trump said, bringing them to the stage. “They were like central casting.”

He asked how the team was doing and who the best player was, and joked about challenging one of the golfers to a match. “The team is doing great,” the President said.

Trump said he loved what he heard from them in their interview: “The future of America. … He loves his country. And I said, isn’t it nice, really? Isn’t it nice as opposed to all the negative stuff you hear? This is the future. This is the future.”

Then he gave them their marching orders. “So go out, win the national championship,” he said. “We expect them now to win the national championship, right?” And he added: “If they can play as good as they look,” the Winthrop golfers will win a lot.
