FOX 2 Detroit’s Roop Raj asked President Trump to look ahead to 2028 in a one-on-one interview on Sunday. He gave a short answer that said a lot about both parties.
“It’s a little bit early,” the President said, “but we have great names. You have JD, Marco, and many others. We have a great bench, they have no bench.”
Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have been on the front lines of the America First agenda, from the campaign trail to the toughest negotiations in the world.
Asked about Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris, Trump was blunt. “I guess they’re possibilities,” he said. “I think Kamala’s leading right now. I haven’t seen Gavin’s name much lately.” He added that the Democrats have “some good people that people don’t talk about,” then smiled: “I hope they continue not to talk about them.”
One party has a deep bench of proven leaders. The other is still looking for one.
