One day after the White House announced that First Lady Melania Trump had secured a ceasefire in war-torn Oleshky, her senior advisor says America is watching a new kind of First Lady. “An incredible moment in time,” Marc Beckman said in an interview posted Saturday. “We have to look as Americans at our first lady with immense pride.”

“She is completely revamping the role of first lady from somebody building policy awareness into action oriented,” Beckman said. “She’s saving lives.”

“Yesterday she brokered — single-handedly brokered — a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine within the area of Oleshky,” he said. Beckman added that, because of the First Lady’s efforts, the ceasefire was expanded “two days longer and within a broader region.”

The White House said Friday that the Oleshky ceasefire begins Oct. 29, so humanitarian aid can enter the front-line city and its mostly elderly residents can leave through a safe passageway. Mrs. Trump serves as the exclusive intermediary between the two sides, using the channel she built reuniting Ukrainian children with their families.

“Our first lady has put together the first ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia that will save a city,” Beckman said. Peace through strength — and this time, it is the First Lady delivering it.
