President Trump gave a two-word verdict on James Comey on Monday night. Asked about the former FBI director on the tarmac beside Air Force One, the President said: “Well, I think he’s a dirty cop, James Comey.”
Trump said he had only just heard the latest news and would not get ahead of it. “I know nothing about it,” he said, before repeating the line: “He’s a dirty cop, but I know nothing about what’s going on.”
Comey is already facing the music. Federal prosecutors in Washington unsealed two counts under the Espionage Act against him on Oct. 5, accusing him of disclosing sensitive national defense information to a national news reporter in 2016. Comey denies wrongdoing.
Monday also brought a ruling from U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman, who sided with Comey’s daughter, former federal prosecutor Maurene Comey, over her July 2025 firing and ordered back pay. The Justice Department says it will appeal, calling the decision an obstruction of presidential authority.
For the millions of Americans who watched Comey run the Russia hoax out of the FBI, the President said out loud what they have known for years. Justice is finally catching up.
