“Tariffs have made us rich,” President Trump declared at his Ohio rally Wednesday night. “They’ve brought all these companies in.” Under past politicians, he said, foreign competitors were “taking all our jobs and destroying our country.” Now, “we are making a fortune in this country and you’ll see it happening.”
The proof is going up across America. “We have more factories and plants being built in the United States right now than ever before in the history of our country,” the President said. “The U.S. Paper Mill Company is bringing paper manufacturing back to this very town.”
He pointed to the Kenworth truck plant, which is expanding “because of our tariffs.” “They built a beautiful truck and they’ve just added 1,000 jobs this year alone,” he said. “General Motors, Honda, Stellantis are spending more than $1 billion to expand auto manufacturing in Ohio.”
Pharmaceuticals are booming too, with “hundreds of billions” from Eli Lilly, Pfizer and Merck. “We went from the highest drug prices,” President Trump said. “We now have the lowest drug prices.” Bayer, he added, “just announced a $2.2 billion investment in New Albany.”
The energy and steel news was just as big. SoftBank is building “one of the world’s largest natural gas power plants in nearby Pike County, Ohio,” a $33 billion project, and “Cleveland-Cliffs is investing $500 million to make steel in Ohio.” As the President put it: “Steel was dead.” Not anymore.
