President Trump brought big news to Middle Georgia on Saturday night. Speaking to a packed crowd in Perry, he announced that Audi is coming to the Peach State with a massive new auto plant.
“Today I’m thrilled to announce a massive auto manufacturing investment to the great state of Georgia by a fantastic company,” the President said. “Audi has just committed to invest $4.2 billion in nearby Macon, Georgia, to begin the construction next month on a massive plant that will produce 200,000 cars a year.” The White House rapid response team put the figure at $4.25 billion.
“Think of that. 200,000 cars a year. That’s incredible,” Trump said. “This will be the single largest investment in U.S. auto industry history, modern history.”
The President tied the win to his America First trade agenda, reminding the crowd how much of the industry had been lost. “By the way, our auto plants, 58% of our auto business was gone,” he said. “It’s all coming back and then some. $40 billion and 30,000 new jobs.”
For the workers of Macon and Middle Georgia, it means a brand-new plant breaking ground next month. For the country, it is one more sign that under President Trump, American manufacturing is roaring back.
