President Trump said Sunday that the days of Canada cashing in on lopsided trade with America are coming to an end.

“Canada has been making 90 billion dollars a year off us for years,” the President told FOX 2 Detroit’s Roop Raj in a one-on-one interview. He said the two countries are getting close to a deal that will be “very good for everybody, but especially for the United States.”

Trump made clear his fight is with bad deals, not Canadians. “I love Canada,” he said, “other than some of the leaders.”

Asked to compare Prime Minister Mark Carney with Justin Trudeau, the President said, “I get along well with everybody.” But he did not soften the record: “They took advantage of our country for many, many decades. I’m straightening it out.”

“You’ll have a pretty good answer very shortly,” he said. America First trade means fair deals for American workers, and Canada is next in line.
