Rep. Matt Van Epps shared a personal story about Marsha Blackburn at her campaign event this week. “When I got home and I left active service over a decade ago, someone who was in my seat at that time took the time out of their schedule to sit down with me for over an hour,” he said. “Marsha Blackburn sat down with me.”

“Matt the veteran, just Matt the veteran,” Van Epps said. She “gave a listen to me, heard me out, and gave me amazing thoughts and guidance on my future. It’s something I have never forgotten, because that’s the type of leader she is.”

“When she says she supports veterans, she supports veterans in policy and in action,” he said. “She supports our military and our armed forces. She has always fought that way.”

Van Epps, who still wears the uniform, said he is proud to see her run for governor. “She is going to make an absolutely amazing commander in chief of our National Guard,” he said. “And as someone who still wears the uniform, I’m eager and excited about that.”
