Tennessee’s early vote crossed another milestone on Friday. Through day nine, 760,069 Tennesseans had cast an early or absentee ballot, according to Secretary of State data — about 54 percent ahead of the 493,972 who had voted at the same point in 2022.

Friday was the biggest day yet. A total of 94,467 Tennesseans voted on Oct. 23, beating the same day in 2022 (70,668) and even the same day in the 2018 midterm (93,313). Ninety-three of the state’s 95 counties are running ahead of their 2022 pace.

Shelby County leads with 100,847 votes, while Davidson County, at 85,784, is up about 108 percent from 2022. Knox County has 60,436. Loudon County has the highest turnout rate in the state at 25.61 percent, with Williamson County at 21.54 percent.

Sen. Bill Hagerty is asking Tennesseans to keep it going. “I’m running for reelection to help President Trump lower costs and fight for our conservative values,” he wrote this week. His video features the President at a Tennessee rally: “You need to reelect one of the earliest Trump supporters… He’s the most respected senator in Washington… This is a brilliant, great man and you’re lucky to have him.”

There are five voting days left. Early voting ends Thursday, Oct. 29, and Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
