Tennessee’s early vote keeps climbing. Through day eight of early voting on Thursday, Oct. 22, 665,602 Tennesseans had cast an early or absentee ballot, according to Secretary of State data — up about 57 percent from the 423,151 who had voted at the same point in 2022.

The surge is statewide. Ninety-three of the state’s 95 counties are running ahead of their 2022 pace, and 88,179 people voted on Thursday alone. Shelby County leads with 88,961 votes, followed by Davidson (76,307), Knox (52,758), Williamson (35,982) and Hamilton (35,650). Loudon County has the highest turnout rate so far, at 23.29 percent.

In Humphreys County, where early turnout is up nearly 47 percent, voter Elizabeth Payne told Sen. Bill Hagerty’s campaign why she showed up. “I voted early today,” she said. “I voted all the way down the line Republican and super excited to support Trump and what he’s doing to make America great again. I know he needs the House and the Senate, so get out and vote early.”

“Thank you, Elizabeth!” Hagerty replied. “We need everyone to vote Republican up and down the ballot to help @realDonaldTrump grow our majority.”

Early voting runs through Thursday, Oct. 29. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
