Clay Travis put his support behind Marsha Blackburn for governor at her campaign event, and he pointed to one fight above all others. “The most important decision that Marsha Blackburn ever had to make in her political career was to fight the state income tax,” he said.

“What she said was that as soon as they got the start of a state income tax, it would never end,” Travis said. He pointed west for proof: “In California right now, they’re starting a billionaire tax. … What starts with the super rich eventually comes into every single one of our pockets. And Marsha Blackburn saw that.”

“She fought against the income tax when it was a very tough battle to fight. And she won,” he said. Looking back over the last 25 to 30 years in Tennessee, “I think it was the single greatest decision that launched us onto the economic stratosphere, the ride that we have all been fortunate enough to live on.”

“That’s Marsha Blackburn in a crucible moment,” Travis said, “having to make a huge decision that was incredibly impactful for decades to come.”

“I am confident that for the next four and probably the next eight years, she is going to do an amazing job as the leader of our state,” he said. “I’m honored to endorse her.” Election Day in Tennessee is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
