East Tennessee’s Rep. Tim Burchett is fed up at the pump. In a video posted Oct. 22, the Second District congressman stood at a gas station and said prices have come down a little, “but not anything significant.”
“What you’re seeing with Big Oil right now, they’re really just sticking it to us because they can,” Burchett said. He pointed to President Trump’s moves on Venezuela, saying Trump “worked a deal out” and “now their oil is in our system.”
Burchett said he has put in two bills dealing with export controls, “where they have to sell it here in this country instead of overseas.” He said companies can get far more for diesel abroad, “so they stick it to us over here with what’s left over.”
“Everybody’s going to say, it’s a commodity, you don’t understand commodities,” he said. “Well, I understand commodities, and I also understand greed.”
Burchett said he will keep pushing his bills in Washington. “We’ll keep trying,” he said. “Thank y’all for sending me here.” Putting American families first at the pump is the America First fight, and Tennessee’s congressman is leading it.
