Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins says America’s farmers are back on their feet under President Trump. “I don’t even have to speculate or guess what would happen,” Rollins said, “because we have what exactly happened in the Biden years.”
“We saw for the first time in 2023, America became a net food importer after always feeding ourselves,” she said. “Also in 2023, we saw a $90 billion loss in the farm economy over four years of the last administration, not one new trade deal. We went from an agricultural trade surplus under Trump one to a $50 billion deficit.”
Farm costs exploded too. “The average input costs under Joe Biden for farmers go up about 40%, feed, fuel, fertilizer,” Rollins said. “I mean, it was devastating.”
“And now we’ve turned the corner. Inputs are coming down. We’ve opened up with 20 new trade deals around the world,” the Secretary said. “We’re going to have record exports this year for corn and wheat and cotton and other incredible American industries.”
Rollins called it a Reagan-style “time for choosing”: “Do you choose darkness and destruction and the end of the American dream, or do you choose freedom and the path forward? And I don’t think that’s any more clear than what we’re seeing in rural America.”
