Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin spoke at a DHS press conference in Texas to tout the results of the Lone Star Mission, which DHS says led to the arrest of more than 4,100 illegal aliens in just 10 days. And he had a message for sanctuary politicians. “This is what cooperation looks like,” he said. “This is what law and order looks like. This is what safety looks like.”

“When you support sanctuary policies, you’re supporting gang bangers. You’re supporting child pedophiles. You’re supporting rapists. You’re supporting cartels. You’re supporting organized crime,” Secretary Mullin said. “There is no humanitarian policies that create a sanctuary city because it creates a safe haven for crime.”

“So who are you protecting?” he asked. “Here in Texas, they’re protecting their state. They’re protecting those that respect the law and order.” He thanked the state, local and county partners who worked with ICE: “It’s not possible to do it without your help.”

Mullin gave the credit to the President. “Thank God to President Trump for coming in and empowering us to enforce our nation’s laws,” he said. “We’re able to see murder rates drop to 126 year low. We’re seeing violent crimes drop to 30 and 40 year lows. We’re seeing fentanyl overdoses go backwards for the first time because we’re enforcing our nation’s laws.”

“Congress made these laws and we enforce the laws that Congress passed,” he said. “Protecting our homeland should never be controversial.” Taking over 4,100 criminals off the streets in 10 days, he asked, “why is that controversial?”
