The final numbers are in from Texas. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin announced that ICE’s Lone Star Mission was “an incredible success”: in just 10 days, more than 4,170 illegal aliens were arrested, “including murderers, sex offenders, and alien smugglers.”

Mullin said the results show what happens when every level of government works together. “When we have cooperation, we as a federal government from the state to the county, to the local law enforcement, we can go after the worst of the worst and we can get them off our streets,” he said.

“Our job is to protect the homeland,” the Secretary said. “And you can’t do that if you have criminals running on your streets.” For anyone who broke in, he had a simple message: “If you enter this country illegally, you chose to cut the line. You chose to say, listen, I don’t respect the laws of this nation.”

Mullin thanked the officers who made it happen, men and women who he said are “working way more than 40 hours a week.” “Thank you for these men and women that are on the streets every single day, keeping our community safe,” he said, “putting your life on the line every single day.”

“This would not have been possible without support from Texas law enforcement,” Mullin wrote. “Together, we’re delivering on President Trump’s promise to make America safe again!”
