Dr. Mehmet Oz is taking the fight against health care fraud straight to the American people. The CMS Administrator on Sunday released a new War on Fraud mini-doc that he says lays the scams bare.
“Fraud. It steals our money, it steals your health, it corrupts our system, and it steals our trust,” Oz says in the video. “In our new mini-doc War on Fraud, we’re going to show you exactly how these scams steal from you, how they hurt everyday Americans, and what we’re doing to fix the problem.”
CMS framed the stakes in one line: “Fraud steals more than taxpayer dollars. It steals healthcare, corrupts our system, and destroys trust.” The mini-doc, the agency said, “exposes how these scams work, who they hurt, and how we’re fighting back.”
The trailer includes footage from the White House fraud press conference, where officials stood under a banner reading “$2.2 billion” in Obamacare fraud recovered. “This is part of the continuing war on fraud,” Oz says.
For years, Washington treated Medicare and Medicaid fraud as a cost of doing business. Under President Trump, the people stealing from seniors and taxpayers are being named, charged and shown to the country. “The War on Fraud continues,” CMS said.
