WASHINGTON — President Donald J. Trump threw open the White House Rose Garden on Thursday for the Americans who run toward danger. “Today, we’re thrilled to welcome to the White House many incredible first responders,” the President said from the Presidential Seal podium, the flags of the Republic behind him.

He named every one of them: “firefighters, police officers, paramedics, EMTs, Secret Service agents and extraordinary volunteers.” And he told them straight: “You’re extraordinary people.”

The President was among friends. “A lot of friends of mine here, like Paul. A lot of great friends,” he said, joking that Paul is such a good speaker “that’s why I never have him speak when I’m around, because he can take over the mic.” Then he gave Paul the ultimate compliment: “He’s a man who talks about border patrol and ICE and law enforcement as well as anybody I know, because he lives it.”

Just back from a record-setting Western rally swing, President Trump spent the middle of his Thursday honoring the men and women who keep American families safe — the America First promise in action. The White House streamed the lunch live on its official YouTube channel. Watch Rapid Response 47’s video.
