CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — The Fake News tried it again. On Saturday afternoon, President Donald J. Trump took the stage at F&M Bank Arena before a wall of red hats and “Make America Great Again” signs. Within hours, a reporter’s video of the crowd was making the rounds online, and critics zeroed in on one block of empty chairs.

On Sunday, Rapid Response 47 set the record straight: “The Fake News never stops. Those seats were purposely left empty. Anyone sitting in them would’ve had their view entirely obstructed by the gigantic press risers in front of them.”

It is the same playbook every cycle: find the one section nobody could see from, and call it a story. The packed stands tell the real one. Tennessee turned out for the President who cut their taxes, sealed the border and brought Korea Zinc’s $6 billion smelter to Montgomery County, and when the speech was over, the President gave them the Trump dance. “TRUMP DANCE IN THE VOLUNTEER STATE — THANK YOU, TENNESSEE!” Rapid Response 47 posted.

Inside, the President gave the crowd its marching orders for November: “pretend that I’m running.” Marsha Blackburn for Governor, Sen. Bill Hagerty, Rep. Matt Van Epps and a full slate of Republican House candidates are on the ballot. Tennessee early voting begins Wednesday, October 14, and Election Day is November 3.
