President Trump said Monday that Brazil’s presidential runoff did not pass the smell test. “Well, it looked terrible to me,” the President told reporters at Joint Base Andrews. “I didn’t take sides, but it looked like another rigged election, frankly. I didn’t take sides, but it was a terrible look for the world.”

“Elections have to be indisputable, and it looked very bad to me,” Trump said. “I didn’t endorse anybody or anything. I watched the election. It looked so corrupt. So terrible.”

Officials declared Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva the winner of Sunday’s runoff over Flávio Bolsonaro. Bolsonaro has refused to concede and vowed to challenge the result, pointing to a last-minute two-hour extension of voting.

The President’s standard is the same at home and abroad: voters deserve elections whose results no one has to question. That is why he is pushing for clean rolls, poll monitors and real penalties for fraud here in America.

From Brasília to Fulton County, President Trump is making the case that free nations need indisputable elections.
