WASHINGTON — The world is betting big on President Trump’s America. The U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration announced Friday, October 16, that SelectUSA has helped secure more than $280 billion in foreign direct investment during the Trump Administration — more than the combined total of every previous program year since SelectUSA launched in 2011, which stood at $255 billion.

The contrast with the last administration is staggering. The $280 billion secured under President Trump is more than four times the $68 billion generated during the same period of the Biden Administration. The haul includes more than 345 investment projects expected to support approximately 55,000 American jobs.

“Under President Trump, America is the greatest place in the world to invest, build, hire, and expand,” said Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. “Not only do SelectUSA investments earn spectacular returns, but they also strengthen our communities and support tens of thousands of high-paying American jobs across our great country.” Under Secretary William Kimmitt added that the Administration “will continue its relentless efforts to make the United States the premier destination for investment.”

The annual SelectUSA Investment Summit is a big part of the boom. The 2026 Summit catalyzed more than $56 billion in new and planned investment commitments, drawing over 5,500 participants from 100 markets and more than 1,100 economic developers representing 55 U.S. states and territories. Registration is now open for the 2027 Summit, May 2–5, 2027, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

President Trump summed it up on the South Lawn Friday: “The U.S. economy has never been stronger. We have more investment coming into the U.S. than ever before.” Tariffs, tax cuts and America First deal-making are bringing factories, capital and jobs home. Watch the SelectUSA video above.
