KALISPELL, Mont. — President Donald J. Trump ran the Montana jobs scoreboard for a packed Kalispell crowd Tuesday night. “Here in Montana, Janicki Industries is investing $800 million to build 2 million square feet of defense and aerospace factory in Great Falls,” he said. “Creating many more than 2,000 Montana jobs.”

The White House Montana fact sheet backs the boom: the Great Falls campus is projected to create more than 1,000 jobs within five years and more than 2,000 at completion. Montana ranked ninth in the nation for job growth in the first year of the President’s second term, and unemployment stood at 3.2% in August — among the lowest in the country.

Energy came next. “I rescued your Colstrip Power Plant, which the Democrats tried to shut down and send your energy costs soaring,” Trump said. Then he turned to timber country: “Through Greg and through Tim and through Steve and through Ryan and for all of your sawmills here in Montana, I impose a historic tariff on all foreign lumber, something that no other president had the courage to do. And your sawmills are booming.”

Tax relief is already in Montana pockets. About 200,000 Montana seniors benefit from the new senior deduction, average refunds hit $3,304 in 2026, and the Working Families Tax Cuts safeguarded 20,000 Montana jobs, $4 billion in state GDP, and $2 billion in workers’ wages.
