GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Promises made, promises kept. As President Donald J. Trump travels to Grand Island on Monday, October 5, 2026, the White House released the receipts for the Cornhusker State: “Under President Trump and Republican leadership, families in the Cornhusker State are keeping more of what they earn, farmers and ranchers are getting direct support, private investment is expanding production, and crime is falling in the state’s largest cities.”
Start with paychecks. The President’s Working Families Tax Cuts stopped the largest tax hike in American history. No Tax on Tips and No Tax on Overtime are helping hundreds of thousands of Nebraska service workers, truckers, manufacturers, and hourly employees. More than 300,000 Nebraska seniors can benefit from the new deduction that eliminates federal income tax on Social Security for the vast majority of recipients. The average Nebraska federal tax refund reached $3,378. The law protected 37,000 Nebraska jobs, $7 billion in state GDP, and $3 billion in wages, and Nebraska secured nearly $219 million in first-year Rural Health Transformation funding, the eighth-largest award in the country.
Then the farm. USDA has delivered $622 million to 36,000 Nebraska farmers through the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program for the 2024 crop year, and Nebraska producers have received more than $632 million in Farmer Bridge Assistance payments. President Trump’s EPA cleared summer E15 sales nationwide in April 2025, opening a bigger market for Nebraska corn and ethanol. And in September 2026, the President signed two Executive Orders for American ranchers: one to help producers protect their herds from wolves and other predators and advance country-of-origin labeling transparency, and another ordering tougher enforcement of the Packers and Stockyards Act.
The jobs and the safety numbers keep coming. Eaton is investing more than $30 million in a new Bellevue facility, creating more than 200 jobs, and Becton Dickinson is investing $110 million to expand prefillable syringe production in Columbus, creating about 120 jobs. In Omaha, total crime is down 11% and criminal homicide is down 33%. In Lincoln, violent crime is down 15% and murder is down 75%.
The White House summed it up: “Lower taxes, stronger farms and ranches, new manufacturing, and safer streets are the record because Republicans delivered — and Nebraskans cannot afford to hand that progress back.” Monday is also the first day of early voting in Nebraska, and tonight the President rallies with Sen. Pete Ricketts and Gov. Jim Pillen at the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center. Watch the Official White House video on how the Working Families Tax Cuts are delivering BIG for Iowa and Nebraska.
