WASHINGTON — Promises made, promises kept. On Sunday the White House released a new video, “No Tax on Overtime: Promises Made, Promises Kept,” and let the people who work the extra shifts tell the story themselves. “I’ve been a nurse for almost 20 years now,” one says. “As nurses, we do pick up a lot of overtime. I think that this will put a lot of hard-earned money back into American nurses’ pockets.”
Another worker credits President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill by name: “With the passage of the great, big, beautiful bill, my wife and I have benefited from the elimination of taxes on overtime, allowing us to stretch every dollar in an increasingly expensive world.” A uniformed first responder adds that lower taxes for the middle class will help his township “put new trucks in the street and help save lives in our community.”
The numbers back them up. According to the White House Council of Economic Advisers, more than 29 million Americans claimed the no-tax-on-overtime deduction this filing season, with an average deduction of more than $3,100. At Jergens, an Ohio manufacturer, the CEO says 83 percent of hourly workers now volunteer for overtime. “Our employees are voluntarily working additional hours,” CEO Jack Schron said. “It is a win-win-win: a win for the employee, for Jergens and for the United States economy.”
And the jobs are coming home. The CEA’s new State of American Manufacturing report finds manufacturing jobs up 72,000 so far in 2026, led by durable goods (+101,000), metal production (+21,000) and transportation equipment (+17,000), a complete reversal of the more than 200,000 manufacturing jobs lost in the Biden administration’s final two years. Factory construction jobs are up more than 111,000 since President Trump took office. Adjusted for inflation, blue-collar manufacturing workers are earning nearly $2,500 more a year, and construction workers $2,900 more. September’s S&P Global manufacturing index hit 55.9, the best reading of the President’s term. “After years of the Biden Admin sending American jobs overseas,” the White House said Sunday, “President Trump is bringing critical blue-collar jobs back home and delivering HUGE wins for American workers!”
That is the Golden Age in a paycheck: more jobs, bigger checks, and more of every overtime hour staying with the family that earned it. Watch the Official White House video.
