WASHINGTON — The law came knocking in the nation’s capital on Columbus Day. Early Monday, Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a search warrant at the Washington, D.C.-area residence of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.). “Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” a DOJ spokesperson said. “This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation.”
White House border czar Tom Homan confirmed it on Fox News: “I can confirm that a search warrant was executed this morning, signed by a judge. Department of Justice is leading the investigation along with Department of Homeland Security.” ABC News and CBS News report the probe relates to Omar’s immigration paperwork, and The New York Times reported the warrant lists potential crimes including false statements and fraud in immigration paperwork, plus a general conspiracy count. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said last month the investigation was ongoing: “Something’s going to happen.” Vice President JD Vance, who leads the administration’s anti-fraud push, said in May the administration would look into the immigration-fraud allegations.
Leaving the White House for his Youngstown, Ohio rally Monday afternoon, President Donald J. Trump was asked about the search and made clear the case belongs to the prosecutors. “I understand they’re looking at her very carefully,” the President said. “I’ve always found her to be totally crooked, personally, but that has nothing to do with me… She’s just a complainer… I think she’s a terrible person, but that’s really up to the DOJ — I have nothing to do with it.”
That is how equal justice is supposed to work: a judge signs the warrant, the Justice Department and HSI do the work, and nobody gets a pass because they hold a seat in Congress. As Homan has put it, “If someone committed an immigration violation, if someone committed marriage fraud or anything like that, regardless if they’re a congressman or not, no one’s above the law.” No charges have been announced, and Omar has called the search an abuse of power and says she did nothing wrong.
For Patriots who watched the last administration look the other way on fraud, the contrast is stark. Under President Trump, the border is sealed, fraudsters face prison, and the rules apply to the powerful as much as anyone else. Minnesotans head to the polls on November 3, with early voting starting later this week. Watch Rapid Response 47’s video of the President’s remarks.
