WASHINGTON — Every child in America now has a stake in the Golden Age. In the Oval Office on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, President Donald J. Trump announced that the Trump Accounts program has reached the entire next generation. “Today, I’m pleased to announce that every single eligible minor child in America has now been automatically enrolled in a Trump Account,” the President said. That is about 70 million accounts, one for every child under 18 with a valid Social Security number.

The President told parents exactly what that means for their kids. “If all goes well, which I think it will, they’ll end up being quite rich by the time they’re 18, and then 21, and as time goes by,” he said. “This money is your child’s future. And when you were a child in the old days, your child would hit 18 and there’s nothing.” He added: “Now, every member of the next generation will have an investment account and will benefit from our booming economy.” Before the event wrapped, he handed out commemorative coins to the children in the room.

American generosity is pouring in. The President thanked Michael and Susan Dell, who are giving about $6.25 billion, enough for $250 in each of 25 million children’s accounts, and Michael Dell said the money will be deposited by the end of this week. “We believe in you, and we want you to dream big because we know you can make your dreams come true,” Susan Dell told the kids. “So parents and grandparents, please claim your child’s account. These accounts are ready. They’re waiting for you, and they have money in them.” President Trump said over 70 companies, including Uber, Intel, Nvidia and Steak n Shake, have agreed to contribute for their employees’ children. Frank Bisignano, who leads the IRS and Social Security, said 10 million accounts are already funded with $4.5 billion, a figure he expects to grow this weekend, giving children “a piece of capitalism” many “would’ve never seen before.”

Here is how it works. Children born from January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2028 receive a one-time $1,000 seed from the Treasury once a parent or guardian claims the account. Family and friends can add up to $5,000 a year and employers up to $2,500, and the money is invested in index funds that track the stock market until the child turns 18. A White House official told Fox News that about 80% of the accounts belong to families earning less than $200,000 a year. Sen. Ted Cruz had a holiday tip for relatives: skip the ugly sweater and make a contribution instead.

Treasury finished automatic enrollment on October 1. “This is a transformative milestone in the Trump Administration’s effort to give every American child the opportunity to build generational wealth and jump-start their financial future,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said. To claim an account, download the official Trump Accounts app for iPhone or Android or visit TrumpAccounts.gov, verify your identity and your relationship to your child, and accept the account terms.
