WASHINGTON — Promise made, deposit coming. Starting this Thursday, October 8, 2026, millions of America’s seniors should see $90 land in their bank accounts, courtesy of President Donald J. Trump. According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, most of the 20.8 million eligible Americans in Original Medicare Part B will receive a $90 direct deposit from the Social Security Administration on or around October 8, followed by an email or a letter from the President in mid-October.

The President made the promise himself in his White House announcement. “I’m pleased to announce that over 20,000,000 seniors on Medicare will soon be receiving a deposit of nearly $100 directly into their bank accounts,” he said. “Through our war on fraud, we have already reduced your Medicare premiums by $132 per year, which is a record. Now, October premiums will be offset with these additional funds… The payments will be going out within days. You’ll get your money almost immediately.”

Here is how it works. Eligible seniors are in Original Medicare Part B, live in the United States, do not get premium help from Medicaid, and do not pay an Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount. Medicare Advantage enrollees are not eligible. Seniors without direct deposit will get a $90 paper check from the Treasury later in October, marked “Medicare Improvement Fund Payment; $90 Payment to Offset October Premium.” To check eligibility, call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). To check on a payment, call Social Security at 1-800-772-1213 beginning October 15.

This is money that sat unused for years. The Medicare Improvement Fund was created in 2008, and CMS says Congress dipped into it around 20 times to “offset” other spending, including $20.7 billion taken under President Obama to help pay for Obamacare. President Trump is the first president to actually use it to make Medicare more affordable for seniors. “For years, Washington’s politicians have funneled money to a little known government program called the Medicare Improvement Fund,” he said. “For its entire existence, past presidents and congress never spent the money to actually improve Medicare.” On Truth Social he called it a “pointless ‘Slush Fund’” that Democrats had used for their special-interest friends.

“In everything we do, we’re looking out for America’s people and America’s seniors and putting more money in your pockets,” the President said. He has also said that because he delivered for seniors, Americans can rest assured the $5,000 Trump Dividend will go to every U.S. citizen if Republicans win the midterms.
