WASHINGTON — President Donald J. Trump promised to bring down the price of prescription drugs, and on Sunday the White House said he has done exactly that. “The largest decline in prescription drug prices thanks to TrumpRx,” the White House posted Sunday evening. “A Promise Made, Promise Kept.”
The video that came with it goes back to the day the President launched TrumpRx.gov at the White House on Feb. 5, 2026. “The most commonly used prescription drugs will be available at dramatic discounts for all consumers through a new website,” President Trump says from the podium. “It’s called TrumpRx.gov.” The video calls the launch “the largest reduction in prescription prices in history,” and says it will bring copays “plummeting down” and save Americans “billions and billions of dollars.”
The numbers on screen show what that means at the pharmacy counter. Starter doses of GLP-1 tablets are listed at $149 a month. Zepbound, Mounjaro and orforglipron average $346 a month across doses, and Ozempic and Wegovy come in at $350. Beside the podium, the White House board titled “Lower Drug Prices for Americans” named the drug makers who signed on, including GSK, Boehringer Ingelheim, Merck, Sanofi, Bristol Myers Squibb, Novartis, Genentech, Amgen and Gilead.
For years, Washington talked about drug prices and Americans kept paying more than anyone else in the world. President Trump brought the biggest drug companies to the table, put the discounts on one simple website, and told families to go use it. “You’re going to save tremendous amounts of money,” the video says. “Go to the site, TrumpRx.gov.”
The White House calls TrumpRx a key pillar of the President’s health care plan, and it lands as Americans head into the midterms weighing who actually lowered their costs. The answer from this White House is simple: the President made a promise, and he kept it.
