WASHINGTON — President Donald J. Trump drew a hard line on Ukraine’s leadership Thursday. In a White House sit-down posted by Rapid Response 47, the President said what America First voters have been waiting to hear about endless war and endless blank checks: “Zelensky is not a good guy for us to deal with.”

Asked whether he had lost faith after reports of resumed strikes on Russian oil refineries — and after he had asked Zelensky not to do that — Trump did not hedge. “I did,” he said of that ask. Then the settlement verdict: “Well I think if they’re going to end up with a settlement of some kind, they’re not going to do it with him. He doesn’t want to settle. He says he wants to settle, but he doesn’t.”

He tied the disaster to the Obama-Biden years and to personal hatred that blocks peace. “No I’m not a big fan of Zelensky. They’ve destroyed that country,” Trump said, tracing the wound back to Crimea and to a “very bad meeting” with Putin. “As you know, Putin hates Zelensky and Zelensky hates Putin. And when you have that kind of hatred, it’s very hard to get something settled. But that’s a war that should have never started.”

On ending it: “It should end soon. I think they actually both would like to see it end. But I think I find Zelensky to be more difficult to deal with than Putin.” He also reminded America that if the U.S. election “weren’t rigged, that war would have never happened.” In the Golden Age, peace is not a slogan for forever aid — it is a President who will not pretend a settlement can be built on a man who will not settle.
