President Donald J. Trump tore into Sen. Elissa Slotkin on Monday after a reporter on the South Lawn said the Michigan Democrat wants Republicans prosecuted to scare young conservatives away from public office. “That’s a hell of a statement,” the President said. “So Slotkin said that there should be prosecutions in order to scare people from going into politics. That’s a Democrat, and that’s what they do. That’s all they’re good at.”

The question traced back to a video posted Oct. 17 by The Chicago Thinker, a student outlet at the University of Chicago. The outlet said Slotkin, speaking on campus, “hopes planned political prosecutions of republican leaders will scare young conservatives from getting involved in politics.”

Trump said the comments show exactly what Democrats have done with power. “Slotkin is a low-life who is ruining her state, just destroying her state,” he said. “But what they’re doing is really discouraging people from going into politics. No, they’ve weaponized government, the Democrats. That’s what they’ve done.”

Patriots lived through that weaponization: the raids, the indictments, the lawfare. The American people answered at the ballot box, and Trump said the Democrats’ threats are the reason they keep losing. “And you know what? That’s why they’re getting their asses kicked,” he said.

The President left the South Lawn for a rally in Kansas, part of a midterm push to protect the America First majority. The message to young conservatives is the opposite of Slotkin’s: step up, run, and help keep the Golden Age going.
